Tourists Rescued by Vansda Police Amid Severe Flooding in Gujarat’s Navsari

Vansda Police in Gujarat’s Navsari rescued several tourists who were stranded in Vangan Village after recent heavy rainfall caused the Kaveri river to flood. The Navsari police also shared a video of the rescue operation, showing tourists being rescued while holding on to a rope.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Gujarat’s Valsad, with rising water levels in the Auranga River forcing people from low-lying areas to relocate to safer places. The state has been experiencing severe downpours for the past few days.

Earlier today, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued seven people who were stranded in Hinglaj village in the Valsad district due to heavy rainfall and high tide in the Auranga River. The NDRF personnel carried out the rescue operation in the early hours of Monday. The stranded individuals were fishermen, according to officials.

Inspector Ramesh Kumar of the NDRF said, “We received information from the district administration that seven people were stranded in Hinglaj village due to continuous rainfall and high tide in the Auranga River. The water from the river reached the nearest low-lying areas. The stranded individuals are fishermen, and they had no option but to leave because the water level had risen significantly. We have rescued them,” he told ANI.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel assessed the situation caused by heavy rain in the Valsad and Navsari districts of South Gujarat through a telephone conversation with the collectors of these two districts. The Chief Minister instructed the Collectors of Valsad and Navsari to relocate people from low-lying areas to safer places in the villages and to ensure proper management with vigilance in the flood situation caused by the rain.

Many districts of Gujarat, including Valsad, have been receiving heavy rains for the last couple of days. On August 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of the possibility of rain and thundershowers for the next five days in several parts of Gujarat.
