Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Criticizes INDI Alliance, Emphasizes BJP’s Development Agenda

During a pre-election rally held in South Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha took a strong stance against the INDI alliance, comprising the CPI-M and Congress in Tripura, cautioning voters against what he termed as an “unholy alliance” lacking coherent policies.

The rally, conducted on Tuesday at Rishyamukh, aimed to garner support for BJP candidate Kriti Singh Debbarma for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the East Tripura constituency.

Dr Saha highlighted the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, as dedicated to the welfare and development of all societal segments, transcending caste and religious barriers.

“The Prime Minister is tirelessly working towards inclusive development, embodying the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Viswas’,” Dr Saha stated, underlining the central government’s commitment to progress.

The Chief Minister didn’t shy away from criticizing the opposition, asserting that the INDI alliance was primarily self-serving and facing internal discord. He pointed out the paradox of Congress and CPI(M) joining forces in Tripura, despite their historically antagonistic relationship, suggesting this as politically expedient rather than principled.

Dr Saha also shared PM Modi’s ambitious electoral targets, with the BJP aiming for 370 Lok Sabha seats, expecting to surpass 400 seats with the broader NDA coalition. In anticipation, BJP members, including Dr Saha, have undertaken extensive door-to-door campaigning across Tripura, advocating for the Prime Minister’s vision.

The rally witnessed approximately 300 voters defecting from opposition parties to the BJP, a move Dr Saha attributed to the appeal of PM Modi’s developmental policies. This shift underscores a growing trend of support for the BJP in Tripura, reflecting the party’s increasing influence in the state.

The event was attended by prominent BJP and state figures, including Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, BJP State Vice-President Subal Bhowmik, and South Tripura District President Kakali Das Dutta, among others. Their collective presence and statements during the rally bolster the BJP’s robust organizational structure in Tripura and its preparedness for the upcoming electoral contest.
