Two Chinese Nationals arrested for illegally crossing the border in Bihar

Two Chinese nationals were arrested at the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar’s East Champaran on Sunday for illegally entering the country without a visa. The officials noted that they had sneaked into Indian territory through Nepal for the second time in less than a month.

The two Chinese nationals have been identified as Fu Knag and Zhao Jing, both residents of Jiangxi. The passport that Fu Kang was awarded on May 31, 2023, is valid until May 30, 2023. While the passport of the other person, Zhao Jing, is valid until February 27, 2033. But they were found without valid documents and claimed that they had left their passports at a hotel in Birganj, right across the border, where they had stayed the previous night.

Both Chinese nationals tried entering India without Visa via Nepal

Jing and Cong were detained by immigration officers at Raxaul on July 2 as they attempted to enter India from Nepal illegally. The officials sent them back to Nepal after stamping their passports as “entry refused” and issuing a warning that they shouldn’t travel there without a visa.

The immigration officer reported that the two Chinese nationals again tried to cross over to India in an illegal manner. Their motive aroused suspicion. They were interrogated and handed over to the Haraiya police outpost. Further inquiries will be carried out after taking them on remand.

As of now, many incidents of Chinese nationals and other tourists crossing the border without proper documents have been reported. People have reported that this happens due to a lack of understanding about where the Nepal border ends.

While designated crossing points with security personnel on duty are used by travellers moving between two nations, however, most of these unintentional crossings happen along an unauthorised path, which raises suspicion and prompts police intervention.
