In a tragic turn of events, two undergraduate students from Ashoka University in Haryana’s Sonipat were found dead between late Friday night and early Saturday morning. The first death involved 20-year-old Dhruvajyoti Singh, from Telangana. He was discovered after reportedly falling from the 10th floor of the university’s hostel building.
Authorities are investigating the cause of death, with initial reports suggesting a possible suicide. However, the exact cause remains uncertain, as police await further information.
Suicide Note Found but Questions Remain
Sonipat’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Narender Kadiyan, confirmed that a purported suicide note was recovered from Dhruvajyoti’s room. While the note does not provide concrete details, investigators are proceeding cautiously, as they cannot rule out foul play. “We are not sure whether it was suicide or murder. The post-mortem examination will offer more clarity,” said Kadiyan.
In a separate incident, 19-year-old Vignesh Gundaram Shankar, an undergraduate from Bengaluru, was found dead near the university’s main gate early Saturday at around 2:30 am. Preliminary reports suggest that he may have suffered a heart attack, but the definitive cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem.
Ashoka University Expresses Condolences
Ashoka University’s Vice Chancellor, Somak Raychaudhury, expressed the institution’s full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation into the deaths. In a statement, Raychaudhury extended condolences to the families of the deceased students, offering support during this difficult time.
