The Uttarakhand government is expected to receive the draft report of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) by July 15. The expert committee responsible for drafting the report is currently finalizing the document.

The committee that is drafting the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for Uttarakhand has held consultations with a variety of stakeholders, including citizens, religious leaders, and legal experts. The committee’s report is expected to include documents and annexures that support its recommendations.

Expert committee members are currently working on finalizing the draft report.”
The sources further reported that the committee would meet again on July 9 in Delhi to finalize the draft of the UCC report.

According to the sources, the committee’s report included documents and annexures related to relevant legal provisions to support the recommendations.

The source revealed that in addition to the report compiled by the committee, the documents and annexures related to the relevant legal provisions are also included in support of the recommendations.
A special Vidhan Sabha session may also be convened on the UCC, according to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the state government is committed to implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

The UCC is a set of laws that would govern all citizens of India, regardless of their religion or caste. The committee tasked with drafting the UCC has been working with a cross-section of citizens over the past year and has spoken to more than 2 lakh people and key stakeholders. The draft is nearing completion and is expected to be submitted to the government in July.

Dhami has said that he is willing to call a special session of the Vidhan Sabha if necessary to discuss the UCC. He believes that the UCC is necessary to ensure equality among all citizens and to promote social harmony. However, the UCC is a controversial issue in India, and there are some people who oppose it. They argue that the UCC would violate religious freedom and that it would be difficult to implement. CM Dhami has made it clear that he is committed to implementing the UCC, and the committee is working hard to finalize the draft.
