Union Budget 2023: Here’s how Opposition leaders reacted

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has praised the union 2023 budget. Farooq Abdullah said that the middle class had been helped with the budget, and something or the other had been given to everyone.

At the same time, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has welcomed the cut in the tax slab. Chidambaram said that any kind of tax reduction is welcome. Putting money in the hands of the people is the best way to boost the economy. However, he said that a major part of the budget is a repetition of the President’s address and the Economic Survey report.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that some things were good in the budget. He said, ‘I would not call it completely negative, but still many questions arise. There was no mention of MNREGA in the budget. What is the government going to do for the workers? Unemployment and inflation were not even talked about.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “No solution to price-rise, inflation, unemployment. Poor got just words and rhetoric. Budget benefits only the big industrialists. Tax rebate up to Rs 7 Lakhs is insignificant considering the inflation & price-rise, it’s like a drop in the ocean for the middle class”.
