Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu conducted a comprehensive review of the Bhogapuram Airport project on Sunday, highlighting its significance as a key growth engine for Uttarandhra.

The review revealed that 36 percent of the airport’s construction work has been completed. The project remains on schedule for completion by June 2026, at which point it will be operational and enhance regional connectivity, according to an official release.

The review covered critical components of the airport’s development, including the terminal building, runway construction, apron, and approach roads. The Bhogapuram Airport is expected to play a crucial role in the economic development of Uttarandhra, improving connectivity and creating new opportunities for the region.

Minister Naidu emphasized the importance of the Bhogapuram Airport project, describing it as a prestigious initiative under the NDA coalition government. He instructed officials to expedite the work to ensure the airport’s operational status by June 2026. This marks the third inspection of the airport works by the Union Minister in the past month, underscoring the project’s significance.

During his visit, Union Minister Naidu, accompanied by state ministers and MLAs, conducted a detailed inspection of various airport components, including the terminal building, entry counters, apron, taxi stand, runway, and ATC tower. Following the inspection, a review meeting was held with GMR officials, who are responsible for executing the project.

Officials reported that approximately 13 percent of the work has been completed in the last two months, bringing the total progress to 36 percent. The Union Minister called for accelerated efforts to ensure that flight operations commence by June 2026. He expressed confidence that the completion of Bhogapuram Airport will be a point of pride for North Andhra and a catalyst for the state’s economic development.

After the inspection, Naidu interacted with workers at the site, many of whom are from Srikakulam district and other northern regions. He acknowledged their crucial role in the project’s progress and assured them of support for any issues they might face.
