Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address rallies in Tripura today

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address two election rallies in Tripura.

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address two election rallies in Tripura.
Shah will speak at two electoral rallies in Khowai, Khowai district, and Santirbazar, South Tripura district. Today, the Union Minister will also participate in a road show at Agartala. Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inspected preparations for Amit Shah’s February 6 rally in the state ahead of the state assembly election on Saturday, prior to Shah’s arrival.

The Chief Minister went to both rally locations, Santirbazar in South Tripura and Khowai in the Khowai district, to ensure that everything went smoothly.

In Tripura, a Left bastion, the BJP won a surprising victory in the 2018 Assembly elections. Following its election victory, the BJP chose Biplab Deb as Tripura’s Chief Minister, followed by Manik Saha in May 2022.

This is the Union Home Minister’s second visit to the state this year.
On January 5, he participated in two Rath Yatras, one from Dharmanagar in North Tripura and another from Sabroom in South Tripura.

Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda visited the state and addressed a public rally in Amarpur, Gomati district.

The party is gearing up for another victory in Tripura and has formed an alliance with its erstwhile ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), which has candidates running for five assembly seats.
The BJP has fielded 55 candidates for the 60 Assembly seats in the northeastern state’s upcoming elections on February 17.

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will also run in the state Assembly elections.

Several other BJP heavyweights will campaign in the northeastern state, according to party officials. For the first time, 11 women were given seats in the state assembly election.
