Separatism is not in hearts of people in India: Union Minister Arjun Meghwal after Amritpal’s arrest

Arjun Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, stated on Sunday that separatism is not in the hearts of Indians.

Arjun Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, stated on Sunday that separatism is not in the hearts of Indians.

Reacting to the arrest of Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh, the Union Minister told mediapersons, “I was in Delhi for a Global Buddhist Summit and people were there from Leh and Ladakh. We all want peace. India will lead the process of peace in the whole world. Separatism is not in the hearts of those living in India”. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghawal further mentioned that development and good governance are key elements of Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi leadership which will help in bringing peace to Jammu and Kashmir.

“Democracy and good governance are the two important elements of Prime Minister’s Modi leadership. These elements will help bring peace and prosperity and that will help create employment opportunities in the region.

Police arrested ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh earlier today in Punjab’s Moga district. He was transferred to the Dibrugarh jail in Assam under tight security.
Amritpal Singh has been on the run since March 18, when Punjab Police launched an extensive manhunt for him.

Other associates of Khalistan sympathiser and radical preacher Amritpal Singh are also being held at the Dibrugarh jail, according to officials.

Papalpreet Singh, a close aide to the fugitive Khalistan leader, was arrested on April 11 and taken to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail.

Pro-Khalistan supporters and associates of Amritpal Singh were moved out of Punjab in March after Central Intelligence agencies expressed concern about a possible jailbreak and repeat of the Ajnala incident.
