Police arrested ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh earlier today in Punjab’s Moga district. He was transferred to the Dibrugarh jail in Assam under tight security.
Amritpal Singh has been on the run since March 18, when Punjab Police launched an extensive manhunt for him.
Other associates of Khalistan sympathiser and radical preacher Amritpal Singh are also being held at the Dibrugarh jail, according to officials.
Papalpreet Singh, a close aide to the fugitive Khalistan leader, was arrested on April 11 and taken to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Pro-Khalistan supporters and associates of Amritpal Singh were moved out of Punjab in March after Central Intelligence agencies expressed concern about a possible jailbreak and repeat of the Ajnala incident.
