Tragedy struck in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on Monday when a bus carrying around 30 members of a wedding party came into contact with a high-voltage wire, resulting in a devastating fire.

At least five individuals lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in the incident that occurred on the route from Mau to Mahahar temple in the Mardah police station area.

Prompt response from authorities, including the district magistrate and senior officials, has led to ongoing rescue and relief operations at the site. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of each deceased individual, along with Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured.

“The loss of lives in an accident in Ghazipur district is extremely sad and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.”

Mau SP Ilamaran on the horrific tragedy said, “Some people were traveling to Ghazipur for a wedding in a bus when it came in contact with a high-tension wire and caught fire. Two people were injured and are undergoing treatment in a hospital. Further investigation is underway.”
