Vinay Mohan Kwatra officially assumed his position as the Indian Ambassador to the United States on Monday, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his diplomatic career. Kwatra, who previously served as India’s Foreign Secretary, takes over the role from Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kwatra expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, writing, “Privileged to assume charge as the Ambassador of India to the United States of America. Team @IndianEmbassyUS will continue to work intensely to strengthen this crucial partnership.” His appointment underscores a continued commitment to deepening the strategic ties between India and the US.
Before his new role, Kwatra was actively engaged in diplomatic relations as the Minister of Commerce at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC. His extensive experience in international diplomacy and his recent role as Foreign Secretary have equipped him with valuable insights into global affairs, which will likely aid him in his new position.
