Wagh Bakri Director Dies Due to Brain Hemorrhage Aged 49

Parag Desai, the executive director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, passed away at the age of 49, as confirmed by the company on their social media channels. He had experienced a brain hemorrhage following a fall last week and, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Sunday. The company expressed its sorrow, stating in an Instagram post, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our cherished Parag Desai.”

Multiple media outlets have reported that Desai fell while being pursued by stray dogs. However, the hospital has clarified that there were no dog bite marks on his body. According to their statement, a CT scan showed an acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion.

Shaktisinh Gohil, a Rajya Sabha MP and Gujarat Congress chief, expressed his condolences, saying, “Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner of Wagh Bakri Tea, passed away. He had a brain hemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India.”

Tech Mahindra also paid tribute to Desai, calling it an “untimely loss” and stating, “Very sad to hear about Parag Desai’s death. A terribly untimely loss indeed.”

Parag Desai was one of the two executive directors on the board of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, instrumental in their transformation into tea lounges and e-commerce. He led the group’s sales, marketing, and export departments and was an expert tea taster and evaluator.

Founded in 1892 by Narandas Desai, Wagh Bakri Tea Group has grown to achieve a turnover of ₹2,000 crore. The group has a presence in multiple states across India and recently expanded into Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
