In a major development related to the Wayanad landslide disaster, Union Minister George Kurien has recently called on and informed him of the exceptional relief and rescue operation, carried out by central forces and agencies in landslide-affected area.

On Sunday, the search and rescue operations in Wayanad, have entered their sixth day, as several individuals still feared trapped under the debris from landslides that struck Chooralmala and Mundakkai.

Talking about the ongoing search & rescue operation with ANI, Wayanad District Collector Meghashree informed, that the rescue operation is underway and more than 1,300 personnel is deployed for current operation.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the multiple landslides that struck Kerala’s Wayanad due to heavy rains.

Earlier, Indian Air Force transported one ZAWER and four REECO radars by airlift from Siachen and Delhi to accelerate search operations in the landslide-affected regions of Wayanad on saturday.

Also, Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Indian Army, and Indian Air Force (IAF) jointly saved three individuals, who were  stuck at Soochipara Waterfalls in the landslide-affected Wayanad district.
