In response to specific intelligence provided by multiple agencies, the Indian Army, Border Security Force, and Jammu and Kashmir Police together conducted an operation in the Machhal sector of the Kupwara district and recovered weapons and ammunition, according to officials.
The joint action in J&K was started from August 15 to August 18 based on intelligence inputs from multiple agencies about the possible availability of a cache of warlike supplies, the Chinar Corps, Indian Army stated.
“A huge cache of arms and ammunition including 5 AK Rifles, 7 Pistols, 4 Hand Grenades and other incriminating material has been recovered,” they added.

Earlier on August 10, joint forces from the Indian Army and J&K Police dismantled a terrorist cell at Uri in the union territory’s Baramulla district, detaining three persons and recovering weapons and ammunition from them.
A case has been filed under the UA (P) Act and the Arms Act.
