Following an extensive discussion covering topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), UPI payments, technology, and COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Microsoft co-founder and CEO Bill Gates engaged in a gift exchange.

The meeting with Bill Gates occurred at the PM’s residence on Friday, March 29.

When Bill Gates presented Prime Minister Modi with a collection of nutrition books, Modi reciprocated by gifting a selection of Indian treasures, elegantly arranged in a special gift box. This box was more than just packaging; it symbolized India’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, showcasing the nation’s cultural richness and technological prowess.

Contained within were various delights, including a snug Pashmina shawl for cozy evenings. To enliven culinary experiences, there was premium saffron, as well as renowned Darjeeling and Nilgiri teas from India. Adding a touch of sophistication was a Thoothukudi pearl, prized for its radiant beauty, nestled among the offerings. Lastly, there was a terracotta murti, a miniature masterpiece capturing the essence of India’s vibrant culture.

Bill Gates praised India’s technological progress, emphasizing the nation’s significant contributions to AI innovation. PM Modi briefed Bill Gates on government initiatives focused on empowering women, citing the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ program, which provides women with drone piloting skills.
