A horrific collision in Dehradun claimed the lives of six young people when their fast-moving Toyota Innova struck a container truck.
Six people were killed and one critically injured in the Tuesday accident that happened at ONGC Chowk at around 1:30 a.m.
Videos of the aftermath of the accidents were widely circulated on social media. However, Elon Musk’s X has removed a video with awful imagery depicting the aftermath of the catastrophic Dehradun accident, which killed six students. It stated that the video was banned because it contained “gratuitous gore” that violated its content regulations.
Following X’s request, the user who shared the video removed it. It got a message that read,
“Violating our rules against posting media depicting gratuitous gore,’
It explained that users “may not share excessively graphic media (e.g., severe injuries, torture). Exposure to gratuitous gore can be harmful, especially if the content is posted with intent to delight in cruelty or for sadistic pleasure.”
Details of the Accident
The incident claimed the lives of Guneet Singh, a 23-year-old from Dehradun, four people under the age of 25, his friends Kamakshi Singhal and Navya Goyal, Rishabh Jain from Dehradun, and Kunal Kukreja from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. Siddhesh Agrawal, the lone survivor, is currently hospitalized and considered stable.
Before the accident, the group had attended a late-night party that Siddhesh had thrown. The driver of the Innova probably accelerated just before the collision because the group’s car might have been racing with a luxury car, according to police reports. CCTV footage shows that the car began at a moderate speed before accelerating quickly just before impact.
Since no case can be brought against the deceased, police are searching for legal options for the Innova’s driver, who was among those killed. Whether they were under the influence of alcohol has not yet been confirmed by the autopsy reports.
The owner of a nearby restaurant described how, just minutes before the fatal collision, he barely avoided being struck by the speeding Innova and told local police officers about the careless driving.
Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt police station said that the investigation is underway . “Till now, prima facie, there is no evidence suggesting that the truck driver was at fault,” said Bhatt. The Innova hit the truck’s left rear side, a notorious blind spot on many large vehicles.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami called the incident a tragic loss of young lives as he condoled the tragic accident along with announcing an ex-gratia relief to the accident victims.
