Embark On A Spiritual Journey: Book Your Mount Kailash Pilgrimage, Check Details

Providing a major boost to spiritual tourism, Uttarakhand Tourism has launched a unique pilgrimage program called “Mount Kailash Darshan from Indian Soil.”

This initiative allows devotees to view the revered Mount Kailash from the Old Lipulekh Peak in India’s Pithoragarh district. Thus, providing an opportunity to experience the majestic mountain without needing to cross into Tibet, the traditional route for many pilgrims.

This inaugural trip took place on October 2, 2024, with the first group successfully witnessing the stunning sight of Mount Kailash the following day.

But, if you want to embark on a spiritual journey and witness the revered Mount Kailash in all its glory, here are some steps to effectively book your tickets or even plan your travel accordingly.

How To Book Your Pilgrimage

In order to book your tickets effectively, first check the official sites of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN). These platforms provide updated information on available dates, tour packages, and the booking process.

Second, contact KMVN directly, since it manages accommodations and arrangements, reaching out to them directly can be a reliable way to gather information. Their staff can assist with booking inquiries and offer guidance on travel logistics and accommodation options.

Third, choose authorized tour operators, as they offer special pilgrimage packages. Ensure that the operator is officially recognized by UTDB or KMVN to avoid unauthorized bookings. These operators typically provide comprehensive packages, including transportation, accommodation, and guided tours.

However, if you’re in Uttarakhand or plan to visit before the pilgrimage, local tourism offices can serve as excellent resources for booking assistance. They provide detailed information about the pilgrimage, local tips, and help ensure all arrangements are properly coordinated.

Additionally, this 4-night, 5-day tour also includes helicopter rides from Pithoragarh to Gunji. Hence, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience. Accommodation options also feature stays with Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) or in local homestays. Thus, allowing guests to enjoy warm local hospitality.

Meanwhile, the launch of this initiative is expected to significantly boost religious tourism in Uttarakhand’s border regions, especially for pilgrims who have been unable to participate in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra since its suspension in 2020.

By offering this alternative,  the Uttarakhand Tourism aims to fulfill the spiritual aspirations of those eager to connect with the sacred Mount Kailash.
