In the video, the couple shared the heartwarming tale of how they first crossed paths. Joe Biden and wife Jill have completed 48 years of togetherness filled with love and resilience.
President Biden share the story behind their first encounter in 1975, revealing that it was a blind date set up by his brother. “He called me and said, ‘I go to school with this woman. You will love her, she is beautiful, and she doesn’t like politics,'” Biden recalled, reflecting on his brother’s matchmaking efforts.
Jill added, ”He called me on a Saturday afternoon, and he said, you know this is Joe Biden and I said how did you get my number? He said would you like to go out tonight I said I am sorry, I already have a date, and he said well, would you break it. I am only in for one night, so I said well, call me back in two hours and I will see what I can do.” However, fate intervened, and after a persuasive call from Joe, she agreed to reconsider.
At the time, Joe was a 33-year-old senator, while Jill was 24. Despite both having been married before, their connection blossomed from the moment they met.
Their journey to marriage wasn’t without hurdles. Jill shared that she rejected joe’s proposal 5 times before she finally said yes.
