Deputy Commissioner of Police for Railways, KPS Malhotra, stated on Sunday that special arrangements have been implemented to manage the surge in passengers. Additional deployments have been made for regular trains, and rope barricading has been set up on platforms to regulate movement. Malhotra assured that the situation remains under control, as reported by PTI.

Mamata Banerjee Calls for Better Planning After Stampede Tragedy

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the New Delhi Railway Station stampede. Calling the incident "heartbreaking," she emphasized the need for careful planning and management to ensure public safety. In a post on X, Banerjee stressed that pilgrims heading to the Maha Kumbh deserved proper facilities and support rather than distress, urging authorities to ensure safer travel arrangements.

The Delhi Police has initiated an inquest proceeding on the New Delhi Railway Station stampede incident. The inquiry is being headed by a DCP rank officer. As per the Standard Operating Procedure, six additional companies have been supplied by PHQ to control stampede-like situations
