Adani enters Industrial 5G Space

Adani Group’s division for digital connectivity solutions, Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL), has obtained the licence to utilise 400MHz of spectrum in 26GHz millimetre wave band. In the first-ever 5G spectrum auction held by the Indian government’s telecom department, ADNL obtained this spectrum for a 20-year period.

Recently acquired 5G spectrum is anticipated to contribute to the development of a cohesive digital platform, accelerating the pace and scope of the Adani Group’s digitalization of its core infrastructure, core business, and B2C business portfolio. The rate of return on assets will significantly improve over time as digital enablement picks up speed.

However, Group’s first move in integrating its portfolio of digital infrastructure, which includes data centres, terrestrial fibre and submarine cables, industrial cloud, AI innovation labs, cybersecurity, and super apps, was to acquire 400MHz of spectrum.

Chairman of the Adani Group Mr. Gautam Adani stated, “We must congratulate this first 5G multi-band, multi-round, multi-player spectrum auction on its efficient and transparent operation. It is a fantastic illustration of the digital know-how that our government contributes to the effort to create an Atmanirbhar Bharat. 5G solves our nation’s connectivity demands in new ways and will be important in helping us develop the IT infrastructure we need for the future.”

Our portfolio firms will be able to provide a set of new add-on services that take use of all the various digital segments we are developing thanks to the Adani Group’s entry into the industrial 5G arena. We believe the next data boom will be more produced by machines than by people as all devices become linked, given that our portfolio is a highly distributed asset heavy investment that is all being revolutionised by sensorization and is rapidly becoming IoT-enabled. Other devices will need to stream, store, process, and analyse this data in real-time, which will revolutionise every business. It will contribute to the development of a set of services that the market today is unable to even fully imagine. In a nation like India, where Tier 2 and 3 cities are experiencing the highest overall development, this volume would be exponentially bigger and created at the fringes.

Group’s larger digital integration strategy calls for connecting its data centres through a network of submarine and terrestrial cables, creating the largest industrial operations cloud in the world, creating the super app to provide a range of services to its 400 million users, and setting up a world-class AI centre of excellence.
