he Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) would send an extra 18 companies to Jammu and Kashmir in response to recent civilian deaths in two new terror incidents in Rajouri district, according to a report.

The 18 CRPF companies, totaling around 1,800 soldiers, would be hurried to the Jammu area for deployment, mostly in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri. According to reports, eight CRPF companies would be deployed very soon from adjacent deployment zones in Jammu and Kashmir, while ten CRPF units are being hurried from Delhi.

According to the source, the decision was prompted by a recent directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs in response to intelligence of a terror strike in the Jammu region.

On Sunday evening and Monday morning, two separate terror assaults in Upper Dangri village in Jammu & Kashmir’s Rajouri district killed six people and injured many more.

Two children were murdered and numerous others were injured in Rajouri’s Upper Dangri village on Monday morning after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonation.

Another suspected IED was detected in Upper Dangri village, around eight kilometres from Rajouri town, according to ADGP Mukesh Singh.

Officials stated the explosion happened near the residence where terrorists killed four civilians and injured many more in a shooting incident on Sunday evening.

Since Sunday evening, about a dozen individuals have allegedly been injured in two terrorist incidents. The injured were being treated at a hospital in Jammu.

In the first incident, two armed terrorists barged into three homes spaced by around 50 metres on Sunday evening and began fire indiscriminately. Four persons were killed and six others were injured in the incident.

These are the third such occurrence of civilian killings in the Rajouri area in the last two weeks, following the deaths of two persons outside an Army base on December 16.

The incident has caused widespread terror in the area. Several organisations have called for a walkout today to condemn the event and demand an investigation.

Army and the CRPF have launched a massive search operation to nab the two “armed men” behind the attack at Upper Dangri village.

The office of LG Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh and a government job to the kin of those killed in the firing incident.

“An ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh and a government job would be given to the next of kin of each of those civilians martyred in the dastardly attack. Seriously injured would be given Rs.1 lakh. Officials have been directed to ensure the best treatment to injured,” the Office of LG J-K said in a statement.

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also visited the village where security has been enhanced.
