Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the critical importance of internal security and border protection for a nation’s progress during his address at the 49th All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) in Dehradun on Saturday. He asserted that no country in the world can advance without robust internal security and secure borders.
Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the achievements of the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in maintaining control in sensitive regions such as Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and areas affected by Naxalite insurgency over the past nine years. He pointed out that since Prime Minister Modi assumed office, the government has effectively managed the situations in these hotspots. The abrogation of Article 370, he noted, had led to a sense of relief among the public, with significant strides in development occurring in Naxal-affected regions.
Regarding the Northeast, the Home Minister noted that the government had successfully integrated this region with the rest of the country peacefully. He stressed that the period from 2019 to 2023 had seen a strong focus on improving law and order, extending from the Home Ministry to local police stations.
Home Minister also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision that India should aspire to become the world’s leading nation in every sector by the year 2047. He expressed the significance of the 49th AIPSC in the context of India’s 75 years of democratic progress and Prime Minister Modi’s goal of achieving global leadership across all domains by the time the nation celebrates its 100th year of independence.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for modern technology and equipment for police forces, especially given the state’s extensive forest cover and exposure to international borders.
The 49th All India Police Science Congress took place at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun and focused on pertinent topics such as policing in the 5G era, narcotics, internal security, challenges posed by social media, and community policing. The event was organized under the auspices of the Police Research and Development Bureau.
