Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party President Sudesh Mahto. On Saturday, Sarma also met Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Babulal Marandi.
After meeting AJSU President Mahto, Chief Minister Sarma stated, “AJSU is a very important component. We just met and talked to Sudesh. Everything is fine; we will fight the elections well.”
Earlier, on August 2, during his visit to Jharkhand, Sarma discussed the BJP’s preparations for the upcoming assembly elections and emphasized that the BJP should win the elections for the better future of Jharkhand. As the BJP’s co-in-charge for Jharkhand in the upcoming elections, Sarma remarked, “I witnessed a lot of enthusiasm among the party workers, and they have affirmed that we will win the elections and form our government in Jharkhand. The key to victory is to work 24 hours a day. For a better future in Jharkhand, we must win the assembly elections, and we will work hard to achieve that.”

Sarma and BJP Jharkhand co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma have also accused ‘Bangladeshi infiltrators’ of seizing tribal lands. Sarma highlighted that despite court orders to return land to tribal families, the administration has not taken the necessary steps to address the issue.
Notably, Jharkhand will hold its assembly polls in 2025. Along with Jharkhand, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir will also undergo assembly elections. The terms of the existing Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will end in January 2025, and the Election Commission (EC) has commenced preparations for the assembly elections.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) fought in alliance with the Congress and Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and secured a comfortable majority with forty-seven seats in the 81-member house.
