BIG: Bengaluru Cafe Blast Suspect Detained By NIA

In a breakthrough by the National Investigative Agency on Tuesday (March 13th) the team detained one person for questioning in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram cafe blast case.

According to the media reports, the suspect is identified as Shabbir who belongs to Cowl Bazaar area in Ballari.

The investigative agency has detained Shabbir under suspicion of having information regarding the blast, citing his recent travel history as grounds for detention.

In a collaborative effort between the NIA and the Central Crime Branch, a cloth merchant from Kaul Bazaar in Ballari and a member associated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) were apprehended last week as part of the ongoing investigation into the explosion. The investigative teams are focusing on determining whether one of the detainees, who had ties to the banned organization PFI, was involved in orchestrating the crime.

NIA released a post on X, along with the picture of the suspect wearing a pink T shirt and blue jeans, “NIA seeks citizen cooperation in identifying the suspect linked to the Rameswaram Cafe Blast Case. Earlier the suspect was noticed travelling in a bus without a cap and mask.

The Rameshwaram cafe reopened its doors on Friday, marking its return to business eight days after the blast that resulted in injuries to ten individuals. Raghavendra Rao, the proprietor of the renowned cafe, assured the public of stringent security measures implemented prior to the reopening.

On March 1st, an individual entered the cafe and placed a bag containing explosives nearby, with a timer set for an hour. The explosion occurred at the well-known establishment located in the Brookefield area, injuring ten people. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the identification of the suspect, whose image was captured on CCTV.
