Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s Independence Day Address: A Look At Government Milestones And Achievements

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday hoisted the national flag in Patna to mark the 78th Independence Day and declared that today is a historic day for every Indian.

“Today is a historic day for every Indian. We pay tribute to our freedom fighters and to all the soldiers serving the country. History shows that Bihar played a vital role in India’s freedom struggle. Bihar has always strengthened the country’s democracy. Since we formed the government in Bihar in 2005, there has been a rule of law in the state. Previously, police force levels were very low, but now they have increased, and we aim to expand them further,” said the Chief Minister.

“We have also made significant strides in health and education. Previously, the number of teachers in schools was very low. Since our government took over, we have worked to improve these sectors. We launched the Balika Yojana for girl students, leading to an equal number of boys and girls attending schools,” the CM added.

He further elaborated that 15 new medical colleges are being established, and the number of hospital beds has been increased. “In collaboration with Tata, we are also constructing a cancer hospital in Muzaffarpur. AIIMS Patna was established in 2003 during Atal ji’s tenure. The current Indian government has also approved a new AIIMS for Bihar in Darbhanga. Numerous bridges are under construction,” the Chief Minister noted.

The Chief Minister highlighted that in 2015, the Nishchay Yojana was introduced to bring electricity to every household in the state. “We will provide 12 lakh jobs to the people of Bihar, despite the initial target of 10 lakhs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, in his Independence Day message, stated that his party would soon liberate the people of Bihar. “With your support, we will soon free the people of Bihar from poverty, separation from their homes, inflation, unemployment, and backwardness. We will create a new, developed Bihar,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
