Dense fog and cold wave conditions persisted in the national capital on Wednesday morning, with the city registering a low temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), chilly day conditions would likely subside over northwest India beginning Wednesday, only to reappear on December 31. RK Jenamani stated that a new cold wave will occur from December 31 to January 1, 2023.
He continued “Dense to extremely dense fog will persist in the belt. On December 29, there will be an improvement due to a western disturbance that will bring new snowfall to Jammu and Kashmir, Leh, and Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, there will be precipitation in north Punjab on 29 December.”
According to Jenamani, there will be a dramatic improvement beginning December 28 when the cold wave passes owing to a western disturbance.
So far in Delhi, the lowest temperature of 4.0 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Aya Nagar, and a cold wave is still prevailing in isolated areas.
However, a cold wave gripped areas of northern India, with Palam in Delhi recording a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius and Safdarjung recording a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius has been recorded today.
According to the IMD, the lowest temperature in the national capital will remain around 7 degrees Celsius throughout the day.
A chilly wave and hazy circumstances disrupted routine life in the nation’s capital. A strong fog layer was seen in the national capital region, restricting visibility and vehicle speeds across the area.
