Following a brief reprieve, extreme cold weather returned to the national capital on Saturday, with people crowded around bonfires along the highways to keep warm.
“There is a strong cold wave today,” remarked a bus driver resting beside a campfire at Turkman Gate in the old city district. “Today is terribly chilly. We’ve been sitting around the bonfire trying to keep it warm “Noor ud Din, an elderly guy, said out.

The India Meteorological Department has previously projected that cold wave conditions will likely persist across Haryana, Chandigarh, and New Delhi between December 31 and January 1.
IMD stated in a tweet on December 28th, “Over the next 48 hours, severe fog and chilly day conditions will be reduced over northwest India. A new stretch of dense fog and a cold wave is expected to begin over northwest India on December 31, 2022 “.
