In Chattisgarh’s Bijapur district as many as six naxals have been killed in a steadfast encounter with the security forces, said a top police official. A female body was also recovered amongst the six dead bodies that were encountered near the Chikurbatti-Pusbhaka jungle in Bijapur district, said IG Bastar P Sundarraj.
Bastar Range IG Sundarraj reported that the encounter occurred near Talperu river in the vicinity of Chikurbatti area under Basaguda police station. A joint operation involving CoBRA, CRPF’s 229th battalion, and DRG engaged in a gunfight with PLGA’s platoon-10 insurgents. Following the encounter, the security personnel recovered the bodies of six slain Naxals, including one female cadre, along with arms, ammunition, and other supplies during the search.
The search operation is still ongoing, and further details are awaited, stated IG Sundarraj. The area falls within the jurisdiction of the Basaguda police station. Basaguda District Reserve Guard, CRPF 229, and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were part of the operation.
On March 23, two jawans sustained injuries in an IED blast in the Naxal stronghold of Dantewada, as informed by the district’s superintendent of police. The blast occurred during an anti-Naxal operation in the Kirandul police station area.
