Voting in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections began at 8 a.m. today.

Gujarat began counting at 37 centres in 33 districts. There are 68 counting halls spread throughout 59 sites in Himachal.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg of Himachal Pradesh, stated that 10,000 duty employees, including security personnel, had been deployed as part of the state’s security procedures.

He further stated that teams of returning officers and deputy returning officers have been sent to guarantee that the counting process runs well.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer P Bharathi stated that during the counting process, 182 counting observers, 182 election officials, and 494 assistant election officers will be on duty. For the counting of ballots, there will be an extra 78 Assistant Election Officers.

In addition, 71 more Assistant Election Officers were allocated responsibility for the previously polled electronically transmitted postal ballot method.

Gujarat Assembly elections were held in two stages on December 1 and 5.
