More than 60% of voters cast ballots in the first phase of Gujarat assembly elections on Thursday.
According to the most recent Election Commission figures, the polling percentage was 60.47. According to Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer P Bharathi, the polling went smooth.
The voting began at 8 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m., with Narmada district having the highest voter turnout at 73.02 percent, followed by Tapi (72.32 pc). Morbi had the third highest vote total (67.65).
Amreli received 57.06 percent of the vote, followed by Bharuch (63.08), Bhavnagar (57.81), Botad (57.15), Dangs (64.84), Devbhumi Dwarka (59.11), Gir Somnath (61.97), Jamnagar (56.09), Junagadh (56.95), Kachchh (55.54), Navsari (66.62), Porbandar (53. (65.29).
Ballot boxes sealed the destiny of 788 candidates in 89 seats distributed over 19 districts. Until 5 p.m., the voter turnout was more than 59%.
In the first phase, there were 1,24,33,362 male voters and 1,15,42,811 female voters.
The second round of voting will take place on December 5, and the results will be announced on December 8 with the Himachal Pradesh elections.
