Haryana Government Revises Pension Plans For Retired Judiciary Personnel

The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved a significant revision in the pension and family pension for retired judicial officers in Haryana, in line with the recommendations of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC).

For judicial officers retired before 2016, the pension will be revised by multiplying the existing basic pension (as of December 31, 2015) by a factor of 2.81, rounded up to the nearest rupee. Alternatively, the pension can be updated based on the Fitment Table of the Haryana Civil Service (Judicial Branch) and the Haryana Superior Judicial Service Revised Pay Rules, 2023.

For those who retired post-2016, the pension calculation will follow Rule 34 of the Haryana Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2016. Additionally, dearness relief will be provided on the increased pension amount as per existing guidelines. The maximum limit for Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity has been set at Rs 20 lakh, with the ceiling on gratuity increasing by 25% whenever the dearness allowance rises by 50% of the basic pay.

Pension Disbursing Authorities will calculate and disburse the arrears of the revised pension from January 1, 2016, after adjusting for any interim relief already provided. Pensioners will be required to undertake to refund any excess payment resulting from incorrect consolidation.
