Heavily investing in infra to generate jobs in Uttarakhand: PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi made the comment during the virtual launch of Uttarakhand's 'Rozgar Mela' on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that his administration is heavily investing in infrastructure in Uttarakhand to improve the lives of people living in remote places while also creating a variety of job possibilities. Prime Minister Modi made the comment during the virtual launch of Uttarakhand’s ‘Rozgar Mela’ on Monday.

“Whether for building, engineering, or raw material enterprises and small traders, job opportunities are expanding. “Be it workers for construction, engineering, or raw material businesses and small traders, job opportunities are growing. With a rise in demand in the transport sector, youth (in Uttarakhand) are getting fresh employment opportunities,” PM Modi said.

About the movement of people from Uttarakhand to metropolitan areas, he stated that increased digital and road connectivity in the hill state will give them with work options, especially in the domestic tourism sector, in their own neighbourhood.

“We have to change the old thinking which said ‘pahar ka pani aur pahar ki jawani’ doesn’t serve the locals residing in the hills. We must change it,” he said, adding there have been continuous efforts by the government to send back youth to their villages while providing them with better employment avenues.

On October 22, last year, Prime Minister Modi launched the first part of the ‘Rozgar Mela,’ handing out employment letters to nearly 75,000 new recruits.

That signalled the start of the effort to create 10 lakh government employment. PM Modi has since addressed similar job fairs in a number of states, including Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, and Maharashtra.
Central ministries and departments, as well as recruitment agencies such as UPSC, SSC, and the Railway Recruitment Board, conduct the recruitments.
