The Defence Ministry has deployed around 120 Pralay ballistic missiles for the Indian armed forces along India’s borders with China and Pakistan.
At the moment, the Pralay ballistic missiles can reach targets from 150 to 500 kilometres away and are exceedingly tough for the opponent to intercept using interceptor missiles.
Earlier on Sunbday, top defence officials stated “A high-level Defence Ministry meeting approved the procurement of roughly 120 missiles for the armed forces and their deployment along the borders.”
The procurement of these ballistic missiles is viewed as a significant step forward for the government, which now has a policy that enables the use of ballistic missiles in tactical missions.
China and Pakistan both have ballistic missiles for military purposes.
According to the sources, the missile produced by the Defence Research and Development Organization is being further improved, and its range may be greatly expanded if the forces desire it.
The missile system began development in 2015, and the late Gen Bipin Rawat, as Chief of Army Staff, pushed for the creation of such a weapon.
Last year, on December 21 and 22, the missile was successfully tested twice on consecutive days.
