In a saddening development related to an ongoing Assar operation, an Indian Army captain lost his life during an encounter with terrorists, at Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday.
As per defense officials, the captain of 48 Rashtriya Rifles got killed in action during the ongoing Assar operation.
During the operation, the captain was injured while leading a search party. Earlier, in the day, the White Knight Corps stated, ‘The search for the terrorists continues amid heavy firefighting. One officer has been injured while leading the search party. War-like stores have been recovered as operations proceed.’
Further, the security forces across Jammu and Kashmir are on high alert ahead of Independence Day to ensure public safety.
In the meantime, defense Minister Rajnath Singh convened an important meeting to address the “rising” terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
This meeting was held at South Block, was attended by many officials, which included defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, and heads of security-related agencies. This meeting comes just a day before Independence Day on August 15.

Meanwhile, operation, which began on Tuesday in the Assar area, is still ongoing. It was launched by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir police following the start of the encounter.
