Joshimath subsidence: Administration has made arrangements for families

With the ground sinking in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, continuing, the district government has made preparations for the affected households.

As of today, 66 households are reported to have migrated from Joshimath due to the formation of massive fractures in buildings and roadways. “The district administration has made provisions for impacted families to reside in safe relief camps,'” the administration announced on Sunday.

Last night, District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana visited the relief camps to assess the situation.

“If there is a demand, it will be met swiftly,” he stated.

Residents of Joshimath, a holy town in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, were frightened when fissures appeared in their houses and highways, prompting the authorities to remove them and relocate them to municipal night shelters.

Cracks have allegedly emerged in as many as 561 dwellings in Joshimath as a result of the town’s ongoing soil subsidence, according to the District Disaster Management Department.

According to officials, the impacted persons, their families, and children are presently residing in night shelters.

According to neighbours, the government has informed those harmed by the landslide that they would receive pre-fabricated housing. They are concerned, though, about when the houses will be assigned to them.

Meanwhile, the state administration has sent an expert team to the area to examine the situation.
