On the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma delivered an address live from Panchkula, highlighting significant developments and initiatives undertaken in the state of Haryana.
Development in Aviation and Infrastructure
To bolster aviation in Haryana, Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar is being prepared for operations, with air services expected to commence soon. This airport will stand as the largest in Haryana and is part of a broader initiative to develop Hisar as a major manufacturing hub.
Economic and Industrial Growth
The state has made significant strides in economic development over the past two decades. “For over 20 years, the state has been managing municipal shops and properties under rent, lease, or license fees. A system has been put in place to transfer ownership to those who have occupied these properties,” MP Sharma stated. Over the past decade, more than 1,000 large and medium-sized enterprises, along with approximately 200,000 micro and small enterprises, have been established, attracting an investment of around ₹60,000 crore and generating employment for over 2 million people.
Support for Businesses
The Chief Minister’s Business Loss Insurance Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Business Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme have been introduced to support businesses affected by natural disasters. These initiatives are designed to help mitigate losses and provide financial security to entrepreneurs.

Youth Empowerment and Employment
The state has prioritized youth empowerment by providing government jobs based on qualifications. To date, “144,000 youths have been provided government jobs based on their qualifications.” This initiative underscores the commitment to recognizing and utilizing the talents of the youth.
Sports Achievements and Recognition
Haryana has established itself as a significant player in the sports world. MP Sharma highlighted that athletes from the state won the most medals at the Paris Olympics. Medal-winning athletes are not only receiving cash prizes and government jobs but also monthly allowances. “We extend our congratulations and best wishes to the victorious players,” Sharma remarked.
Advancements in Education and Women’s Empowerment
The state has opened hundreds of new colleges to improve educational opportunities for girls, with more than half of these institutions catering specifically to female students. Additionally, the management of Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteens and Vita Bakery Centers has been entrusted to women, alongside initiatives to increase women’s representation in Panchayati Raj institutions and provide more livelihood opportunities.
Property and Technology Initiatives
To combat fraud in property transactions, property IDs have been introduced, and No Due Certificates are now available online. The Gram Darshan Portal has been launched to improve communication between the government and rural residents, allowing villagers to submit demands, suggestions, and complaints related to their gram panchayats.
Urban Development and Infrastructure Projects
Smart cities are being developed in Gurugram, Karnal, Faridabad, and Panchkula, with Metropolitan Development Authorities established for these areas. The current government has allocated approximately ₹4,887 crore for the development and operation of new grain and vegetable markets, road construction, and repairs. A pipeline of 2,235 kilometers, costing ₹4,160 crore and 47 lakh, has been laid, and the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal program has successfully provided clean water to 1.5 million households.
Commitment to Social Harmony
The government has worked diligently over the past year and a half to rise above casteism, regionalism, and nepotism. MP Sharma urged everyone to unite and work towards making the country and state clean, healthy, prosperous, and successful, while adhering to our great cultural traditions.
In closing, MP Kartikeya Sharma called for collective efforts to achieve these goals and wished everyone a happy Independence Day. “Let’s work together to achieve these goals. Jai Hind! Jai Haryana!”
