Madhya Pradesh: Police Arrest Another Suspect Following Gwalior Encounter

After an encounter, Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested another wanted accused for his alleged involvement in the killing of a woman in Gwalior district, a senior official said on Thursday.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mayank Bhadauriya, a resident of Agra. According to the police, he was quite an active criminal and was on the run after the recent murder under Madhav Ganj police station limits on July 29. A reward of Rs 20,000 was also declared on his arrest.

Gwalior Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharmaveer Singh told ANI, “An accused was caught in a police encounter late at night on Wednesday and was admitted to the hospital. He is a very active criminal and has been identified as Mayank Bhadauria, originally a resident of Agra and currently he was in Gwalior. He was absconding after the recent murder and robbery incident occurred here. A reward of Rs 20,000 was also declared by the Inspector General of Police (IG) for his arrest.”

On Wednesday late night, Madhav Ganj police station in-charge received input about the accused’s movement in Shankarpur area and based on the information, a team of crime branch and Madhav Ganj police were deployed in the area, the officer said.

“When the police tried to arrest the accused, he opened fire at the police with an illegal pistol which he was carrying with him. The police retaliated and the accused got injured. After that he was brought to the hospital,” he said.

He is a very active criminal. Several cases of robbery and murder have been registered against him in the past. The motorcycle on which he was moving and an illegal pistol have been confiscated from the spot. Further investigation into the matter is underway, the officer added.

Earlier on August 2, the prime accused, Akash Jadoun, in the murder incident of the woman was also arrested following the encounter with the police in the Kampu police station area in the district.
