The NIA conducted raids in multiple states on Thursday in connection with the PFI conspiracy case in Patna, seizing “incriminating” materials, according to a spokesperson for the federal agency here.
The searches were conducted at 20 locations in Bihar’s Nalanda, Katihar, Arariya, Madhubani, Patna, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, and Saran districts, according to the spokesperson.
The National Investigation Agency also conducted searches in the Tamil Nadu district of Sivaganga and the Karnataka district of South Kannada in the case involving the involvement of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in “anti-national activities.”
“Incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents, were seized during searches conducted today at the premises of accused and suspects,” the spokesperson said.
The case was turned over to the NIA after the Bihar Police arrested three people in July this year in connection with the alleged terror module.
On July 13, Mohammad Jallauddin, a retired Jharkhand Police officer, and Athar Parvez were apprehended in the Phulwari Sharif area, while Uttar Pradesh ATS apprehended Nuruddin Jangi three days later in Lucknow.
“They (Jallauddin and Parvez) were instructing locals on how to use swords and knives while also inciting communal violence. They have ties to PFI “Patna Police had stated following the arrests.
The police claimed that two English-language pamphlets, India 2047: Towards Islamic India’s Rule and Popular Front of India, 20 February 2021, were discovered during the raids.
The terror module was accused of running arms training camps with the goal of transforming India into a ‘Islamic State by 2047.’
In addition, the Enforcement Directorate has launched a money laundering investigation into the “terror module” case.
The ED has been investigating PFI’s alleged “financial links” on charges of fueling anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests, 2020 Delhi riots, and the alleged conspiracy in the Hathras case of alleged gangrape and death of a Dalit woman since taking cognizance of the Patna Police FIR.
The PFI was founded in Kerala in 2006 and is headquartered in Delhi.
