PM Modi Set To Divulge India’s First Underwater Metro In Kolkata Today

Later today, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and unveil various infrastructure projects related to railways, roads, oil and gas with a total cost of around Rs. Bettiah, West Champaran district, Bihar Rs 12,800 crore. The Prime Minister's multi-state tour from March 4-6 includes visits to Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar.

PM Modi Set To Divulge India’s First Underwater Metro In Kolkata Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate India’s first underwater Metro in the city of Kolkata on Wednesday, which will be a major breakthrough for the city’s transportation system. The opening meeting featured several major metro and rapid transit projects across the country, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving urban mobility and connectivity.

Kolkata Metro Extension includes the Howrah Maidan-Marina Boulevard metro section, including India’s first Jiang Yun Tunnel, which is a major achievement in terms of national infrastructure. Apart from demonstrating efficiency, the landmark project also highlights the importance of connecting the two beautiful cities of Kolkata and improving the efficiency and public accessibility of the city’s transportation system.

In addition to the underground line, the governor will also open the Kavi Subhash – Hemanta Mukhopadhay metro section and the Taratala – Majerhat metro section, which is part of the Joka-Esplanade line. Majerhat Metro Station is an architectural marvel; It is an elevated station that represents a new way of developing the city, encompassing railway lines, platforms and canals.

As the summit continues beyond Kolkata, Prime Minister Modi also plans to launch major projects across the country. These include the extension of Pune Metro from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, Phase-I extension of Kochi Metro, Agra Metro extension from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar and Duhai-Modinagar (North) link between Delhi-Meerut RRTS route taking. All of these projects aim to improve the transport system and provide better and more efficient connections to the public.

The foundation stone of Pimpri Chinchwad Metro-Nigdi, the first phase expansion of the Pune Metro Rail project, will also be laid at the Prime Minister’s Office, where further expansion and strengthening will be done for urban transportation.

This landmark initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating efficient and effective transport systems across India to revolutionize travel, reduce environmental impact and stimulate economic growth through improved connectivity.
