During his address on the 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that India is progressing towards self-reliance by boosting domestic manufacturing and has begun exporting to other countries.
PM Modi emphasized that India has become self-reliant in mobile phone manufacturing and is now exporting globally. “There was a time when we imported mobile phones, but today we have built a mobile phone manufacturing ecosystem, and now we have started exporting mobile phones to the world,” said PM Modi.
Regarding the defense sector, PM Modi stated that India is achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing. “We are becoming self-reliant in the defense sector. Today, we have our own identity in defense equipment manufacturing. India is emerging as a defense manufacturing hub,” he said.
On the toy industry, PM Modi noted that India, which previously imported toys, now not only produces toys for domestic consumption but also exports them. “In the past, it was said that toys came from abroad; today, I can proudly say that toys from my country are reaching global markets with a bang,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that many large companies and investors from around the world are interested in investing in India. He urged state governments to seize this opportunity and attract investors. “Today, many big companies and investors want to invest in India. This is a golden opportunity. I urge state governments to make clear policies to attract investors and ensure good governance and law and order. There should be competition between states to attract the maximum number of investors. Their policies should be adapted to global requirements,” added PM Modi.
PM Modi also highlighted the reforms undertaken by the central government in the past decade, which have increased self-confidence among the youth and inspired them to take bold steps. “After independence, there was an atmosphere of status quo that needed to be broken. People waited for reforms; we had the opportunity and implemented major reforms. Our commitment to reform is not limited to editorials; it is aimed at strengthening the country. This has resulted in increased self-confidence among the youth. They now do not want to proceed slowly; they want to leap forward and achieve new milestones. This is a golden era for India,” PM Modi said.
“We should not let this opportunity slip away. We will then achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he added.
