Rajasthan: Three Killed in Jaipur Basement Flood; Tragedy Follows Delhi Coaching Center Drowning

In a tragic incident, three people, including a young girl, have lost their lives after a basement in Jaipur’s Dhwaj Nagar area flooded due to rising water levels.

This tragedy follows a recent incident where three UPSC aspirants drowned in the basement of a coaching center in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar due to heavy rainfall.

Jaipur DCP Amit Kumar said, “Reports say that three people are trapped in the basement: a woman, her niece, and a man. The basement flooded because a wall collapsed, leaving them with no time to escape. We are working on their rescue. It will take about an hour and a half to pump out the water, and we hope to get them out soon.”

On being informed, a rescue operation was launched by the SDRF and locals.

Asrar Ahmed, a Civil Defence volunteer, reported that the incident took place on VKI Road No. 17 in Dhwaj Nagar. He explained that water surged into the basement after a wall of the house collapsed. “This morning, when we arrived, we found 30 feet of water at the site. We are currently pumping out the water and will start the rescue operation once the basement is accessible. Three people, including a 7-8-year-old child and a 19-year-old woman, are trapped in the basement,” Ahmed told ANI.

Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar confirmed that the missing individuals include a seven-year-old girl and two women aged 19 and 22. “The victims are still trapped and feared drowned in the basement. Efforts to pump out the water are ongoing,” the DCP said.

The bodies were recovered seven hours after the rescue operation began.
