Siddaramaiah refuses to attend India-China Friendship Association event, cites ideological differences

Siddaramaiah, head of the opposition in Karnataka, declined on Saturday to take part in a gathering sponsored by Chinese consulate, citing ideological disagreements.

Additionally, he expressed astonishment at being added to the guest list. Siddaramaiah wrote, “Even though I declined to take part in the event hosted by the India-China Friendship Association on Sunday, I was shocked to find my name on the invitation letter.

Additionally, he provided the following justification: “I am not participating in the programme as philosophically, both my position and that of our party are opposed to the program’s goal.”

India-China Friendship Association is the organisation behind the Sunday event. A lecture on “US Imperialist Intervention in the Internal Affairs of the People’s Republic of China” is part of it.

An exhibition of Chinese photographs is also part of the event.

Earlier on August 24, Siddaramaiah responded to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s assertion that the Contractors Association lacked credibility by claiming that this was the Bharatiya Janata Party’s version of events rather than the contractors’.
