According to officials on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad detained eight individuals connected to the Bangladeshi terrorist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent.
The Saharanpur-born Lukmaan, Kari Mukhtar, Kamil, Mohammad Aleem, Shahzad (Shamli), Mudassir (Haridwar), Nawazish Ansari (Jharkhand), and Ali Noor were among the terrorists that were apprehended (Bangladesh). The Unlawful Activities Prevention Act was used to book them.
The authorities also took Rs 2.5 lakh in cash from the defendant. The accused were radicalising young people in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, according to the officials.
Sources said that “they were spreading Jihadi ideology through religious institutions in Salempur, Jwalapur, and Haridwar in western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.”
Abdullah Talha, a terrorist from Bangladesh, contributed money to support his activities.
In the meanwhile, as part of the crackdown, Assam’s police have detained around 40 people, including the imam and madrasa professors, on suspicion of having ties to the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
According to accounts, some militants posing as religious leaders infiltrated the state and carried out their anti-state actions covertly. According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, certain madrassa managements weren’t in charge of the school but rather were in charge of a terrorist centre.
