After taking off, a Vistara flight from Delhi to Mumbai had to turn around due to engine problems, according to officials on Monday.

A loud engine noise caused the B737-8 aircraft, which took off at around 2:40 pm, to return to Delhi.

The flight turned back and landed in Delhi within 40 minutes of takeoff, according to flightradar24, an app to track live aircraft movements. The flight was overflying Uttar Pradesh at the time.

The aircraft VT-TGB was involved in an air turnback while operating flight UK 951 (Delhi-Mumbai), according to the aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A whistling noise was audible from the right side of the engine in the cockpit.

“The plane touched down safely. No structural deficiencies were found during the preliminary ground inspection, according to a DGCA official.

The representative continued, “We are looking into the situation more.”

Vistara acknowledged the problem in a statement, noting that an emergency aircraft arrangement had been made.

On the morning of September 5, 2022, Vistara flight UK 951 from Delhi to Mumbai encountered a minor technical issue shortly after takeoff. The pilots made the decision to make a U-turn as a safety measure, and the plane safely landed at Delhi’s IGI Airport. An alternative aircraft was immediately organised and is about to take off. Customers’ inconvenience is deeply regrettable. As always, Vistara places the highest priority on the safety of its passengers and crew.
