Gurgaon experienced heavy rainfall, with 53 mm recorded by 8:30 am and some areas receiving over 80 mm. Notably, an 11,000-square-foot apartment in The Camellias by DLF on Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road, which was resold last October for more than ₹ 100 crore, was impacted by the rain, as the surrounding area was submerged in waist-deep water following overnight downpours on Monday, August 12.
Most buyers of apartments in The Camellias paid between ₹ 18 crore at the project’s launch in 2014 and over ₹ 40 crore more recently.
The cost of interior work alone is said to have exceeded ₹ 5 crore. Properties near The Camellias that don’t have a view of the golf course are valued at over ₹ 15 crore.

Despite the significant investment in luxury living, images shared on social media revealed the Golf Course area to be just as waterlogged as other parts of the national capital region, where real estate prices are much lower.
The district administration confirmed the rainfall data, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate rain with thundershowers for the national capital on Monday.
Several videos and photos of flooded areas in Gurugram went viral, leading many to mock the city’s name by calling it “Jalgram.” Images showed residents navigating through waist-deep water, with water even entering homes in high-end neighborhoods.
Civic authorities faced harsh criticism for their failure to provide adequate drainage infrastructure, and some people accused them of corruption in construction projects. One user suggested that the pensions and salaries of responsible officials should be withheld, with losses recovered from their assets.
