A 17-year-old JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) aspirant who went missing from his hostel in Kota, Rajasthan, on February 13, has been located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, after an intense 11-day search. Piyush, hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, had been residing in a Kota hostel for the past two years, preparing for the IIT-JEE exams. The disappearance raised concerns, prompting swift search efforts.
The disappearance of Piyush prompted concerns among family members and authorities, leading to a swift and intensive search operation spanning multiple locations. The breakthrough in the search came when intelligence suggested Piyush’s presence in Dehradun, prompting police teams to be dispatched to both Dehradun and Haridwar.
Ultimately, Piyush was tracked down in Dharamshala, where he was taken into custody with the assistance of local law enforcement, in collaboration with Kota Police. Family members accompanied the police team during the operation.
Piyush’s current mental state is reported to be unstable, and he has been reluctant to provide information to the authorities. Plans are underway to bring him back to Kota for counselling, after which further questioning will shed light on the circumstances surrounding his journey from Kota to Dharamshala.
The ordeal began when Piyush’s last contact with his family was on February 13, after which he ceased answering calls and turned off his phone. Concerned for his safety, his family reported him missing, eventually leading to the discovery of his absence from his hostel room after leaving for a test.
CCTV footage from the Kota railway station provided the last visual trace of Piyush, carrying a bag, before his disappearance. The family revealed that Piyush had recently taken the JEE-Mains exam but achieved a score of only 13 percentile, despite diligently preparing for the IIT-JEE for the past two years.
As the investigation progresses, further details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding Piyush’s disappearance and his subsequent journey to Dharamshala.
