Pilot Delivers Baby Mid-Flight, Ensuring Safe Arrival on VietJet Airways

In a remarkable turn of events aboard a VietJet flight from Taipei, Taiwan, to Bangkok, Thailand, pilot Jakarin Sararnraksul became an unexpected hero when he assisted in the delivery of a baby mid-flight. Responding to the urgent call from cabin crew notifying him of a passenger going into labor, Sararnraksul exhibited quick thinking and composure, facilitating the safe arrival of the newborn right on board the aircraft.

Taking to social media, Sararnraksul shared a heartwarming picture of himself cradling the newborn, expressing his astonishment at the extraordinary event. “I have been a pilot for 18 years. I just helped deliver a newborn baby on the plane,” he wrote, capturing the remarkable moment in words.

The crew affectionately dubbed the newborn “Sky baby,” symbolizing the unique circumstances of his birth. Sararnrakskul, speaking to Viral Press, revealed that despite his extensive piloting experience, this was his first encounter with delivering a baby in-flight.

Upon landing in Bangkok, Thailand, paramedics were on standby to ensure the well-being of both the mother and the newborn. Reports from The New York Post confirmed that both were in good health following the impromptu delivery.

Reflecting on the experience, Sararnrakskul expressed pride in his role in bringing a new life into the world, emphasizing the significance of the newborn’s unique birth story. “He will be able to tell everyone for the rest of his life that he was born in the air,” Sararnrakskul remarked, highlighting the extraordinary nature of the event.

The pilot’s Instagram post documenting the memorable occasion quickly gained traction, eliciting an outpouring of support and well wishes from internet users worldwide. Messages of admiration and congratulations flooded in, acknowledging the remarkable feat and celebrating the safe arrival of the newborn.

According to a report by Sky News, this incident adds to a rare but notable history of babies being born on commercial flights, with 74 such occurrences recorded between 1929 and 2018.
