Swiggy Teams Up With IRCTC To Deliver Food On Trains

Swiggy, a prominent food delivery service in India, has announced a partnership with Indian Railways to provide pre-ordered meals to train passengers through IRCTC’s e-catering portal. This collaboration, facilitated by Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods), is poised to launch soon, initially at select railway stations including Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.

The primary goal of this partnership is to enhance the overall passenger experience by offering a diverse range of food options during train journeys. Leveraging Swiggy’s platform, IRCTC aims to simplify the process of ordering and delivering meals for travelers using the e-catering portal.

In a recent stock exchange filing, IRCTC announced its association with Bundl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Swiggy Foods) for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals through the IRCTC e-catering portal. This initiative is currently in its proof of concept (PoC) phase and will commence operations at the specified railway stations.

This development builds on IRCTC’s prior partnerships with food delivery platforms. Last year, IRCTC collaborated with Zomato to introduce similar pre-ordered food delivery services at various railway stations, including New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi.

Ordering food for train travel through the IRCTC e-catering portal is straightforward. Passengers can simply enter their PNR number to access a diverse array of restaurant options for their journey. Upon making their selections, they can proceed to place their order, with the choice of online payment or cash on delivery. The ordered meals will then be delivered directly to their seats, enhancing the convenience and comfort of their travel experience.

With the upcoming partnership between IRCTC and Swiggy, train passengers can look forward to an expanded range of meal options and a seamless ordering process. This initiative is expected to significantly improve the overall travel experience for passengers using Indian Railways.
