In Indian weddings, a halwai traditionally played a crucial role, with teams of halwais using large cauldrons to prepare dishes like matar paneer or fry puris for hundreds of guests. Over time, caterers began to replace halwais at some weddings. Now, a new trend is emerging in Indian wedding food—ordering dishes online.
An X user mentioned attending an engagement ceremony where the couple opted to order food online for their guests, instead of using traditional catering services. The user shared a photo of a Swiggy delivery partner arranging plastic food boxes on a table inside a tent.
Swiggy noticed the picture and responded by suggesting that the couple order their wedding food online as well.
“No one has used our Crazy Deals better than these guys. Shaadi ka khana bhi humse mangwa lena,” responded Swiggy.
